The park also includes a sheltered picnic area, restrooms and two primitive campsites. Lynchs Woods acts as the Gateway to the Upstate for the Palmetto Trail.
Want convenience??? The Newberry County YMCA is less than a mile down the road and offers a large outdoor pool, fully equipped weight room, full size gym, soccer fields, and an indoor walking track. Shopping areas that include Wal-Mart, Lowes, pharmacies and dry cleaning are moments away. Historic Downtown Newberry with its specialty shops, fine dining and antique stores are all within a five minute drive! This is country living without having to drive a country mile to get groceries.
Loblolly Pine sawtimber and pulpwood occupies the ridge tops. Two areas adjoining Morningside Drive have been reforested naturally and currently support stands of pre-merchantable pine saplings. Mature Hardwood timber, principally Northern Red Oak, Southern Red Oak, Water Oak, Scarlet Oak, White Oak, Post Oak, Yellow Poplar, Sweetgum, and Red Maple, occupies the hillsides that adjoin the intermittent streams that drain the tract. A complete timber inventory is available upon request. Deer and Turkey abound on this unique property along with a wide variety of song birds and other wildlife.
Newberry lies in the heart of the Midlands of South Carolina and is the home of Newberry College (a private Lutheran college) as well as the historic Newberry Opera House.
